East Alabama Community Foundation Awards $30k in Grants to Local Nonprofits

OPELIKA, AL– The East Alabama Community Foundation (EACF) hosted its Community Trust Grants Presentation on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Opelika Public Library. A total of $30,525.21 was awarded to 18 local nonprofits. This event highlighted EACF’s commitment to supporting local organizations and initiatives that make a meaningful difference in East Alabama communities. The Community Trust Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations addressing critical needs and opportunities in the region.

Recipients of this grant cycle are listed below. 

EACF Education & Social Services Grant Awards ($30,525.21)

Education Grants ($15,400.21)

$2,2500 to Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Foundation to pay for the ASL instructors/interpreters and supplies for the AIDB Opelika Regional Center Summer ASL Bootcamp.

$2,200 to Created with a Purpose to provide funding to educate, encourage, and expose the teens to countless opportunities and careers to inspire them to want to dream about a better future.

$2,775 to The D.A.C. Way to fund the teach for 12 months in Loachapoka, provide Spanish language material for 25 students in Loachapoka as part of the After-School Tutoring and Reading Club.

$3,000 to LaFayette Main Street to complete a mural in Downtown LaFayette.

$2,660 to Redeeming Grace Ministries to support the costs of curriculum supplies to train and equip people to live a life of everlasting recovery.

$2,515.21 to Southern Preparatory Academy to support the modernization and repair of Southern Preparatory Academy’s existing Ranger Trail, a vital component of our JROTC Program.

Social Services Grants ($15,125)

$1,625.00 to Elizabeth’s Place to provide funds for a new computer, cell phones, minute cards and legal fees to be used by the women receiving services for domestic abuse.

$3,000.00 to Mercy Medical Ministries to provide patient transportation for appointments and provide home blood pressure monitors.

$3,000.00 to The Nourish Foundation to provide weekly fresh product box deliveries to food insecure families in Lee County.

$1,500 to Quiet Storm Outreach Group to support the costs of outreach to panhandlers in Lee and Tallapoosa Counties. To provide them with basic needs items such as non-perishable food, clothing, blankets, socks, shoes, hygiene and toiletry items.

$3,000 to Rape Counselors of East Alabama to help them respond to victims of sexual violence in a trauma-informed way, providing victims with clothing and other necessary resources when leaving the hospital, and continuing to accompany survivors to medical, legal, and other related services needed as a result of their assault, as well as providing crisis counseling and long-term counseling.

$3,000.00 to Tri-County Children’s Advocacy Center to provide financial assistance to provide direct services to alleged victims of child abuse and/or assault.
