Community COVID-19 United Relief Fund | Round 3 Announcement

On March 20th, we along with the River Region United Way, announced the Community COVID-19 United Relief Fund. The Fund began with $200,000 that was contributed by both organizations. As of today, additional donations of over $190,000 have been added to the Fund. Today, we are pleased to announce over $57,000 in grants to 23 organizations. This brings the total amount of grants payout to $157,500 for organizations supporting basic needs and/or health and wellness efforts. We will continue this Fund into the near future.
Alabama Kidney Foundation

will receive $2,500 to provide direct aid for medical, transportation, and utility costs for dialysis and transplant patients who are financially insecure due to COVID-19.

Alabama Rural Ministry

will receive $2,500 to provide emergency food, hygiene supplies, and medication for persons who must “shelter in place” due to age or medical conditions.

American Legion Charles L. Martin Post 1948 will receive $2,500 to provide food, hygiene items, transportation, and shelter for individuals impacted by COVID-19.
AICC Autauga Interfaith Care Center

will receive $2,500 to provide utility assistance for clients who are financially insecure due to COVID-19.

Autism Society of Alabama

will receive $2,500 to implement virtual parent and sibling support groups to address the impacts of COVID-19 “sheltering in place” on autistic children and their families.

First United Methodist Church – Montgomery

will receive $2,500 to provide direct aid for utilities, food, and gasoline to clients who are financially insecure due to COVID-19.

Frazer United Methodist Church

will receive $2,500 to provide direct aid for utilities and other bills of clients impacted by COVID-19.

Friendship Mission

will receive $2,361 to purchase a commercial washer and dryer and a handwashing station to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection among shelter residents and soup kitchen guests.

Hope Inspired Ministries

will receive $2,500 to purchase and install a washer and dryer to support clients displaced by COVID-19 and now employed in jobs requiring daily laundering of heavily-soiled work clothes.

Hospice of Montgomery

will receive $2,500 to purchase personal protective equipment to protect patients and their caregivers.

Love In Action International Ministries

will receive $2,500 to provide food and utility assistance for clients in the Wiregrass area.

MBA Community Ministries will receive $2,500 to purchase food for distribution to clients “sheltering in place” through its Rolling Store.
Medical Outreach Ministries

will receive $2,500 to support its operation of telehealth services that are necessary to protect its health providers and patients, with a majority of both groups vulnerable to COVID-19 due to age and/or chronic conditions.

Metro Church of Christ, Montgomery, Alabama

will receive $2,500 to provide direct aid of utility and rental assistance for clients who are financially insecure due to COVID-19.

Montgomery City of Refuge

will receive $2,500 to purchase food for distribution to clients in need through its Shepherd’s Staff Food Pantry serving south Montgomery communities.

The New Walk of Life Church

will receive $2,500 to provide direct aid for utilities, rent, and transportation to clients impacted by COVID-19.

Notasulga Area Support Organization will receive $2,500 to provide direct aid of food, transportation, childcare, and utilities for clients who are hospitalized or unemployed due to COVID-19.
Operation Homefront Southeast will receive $2,500 to provide direct aid of rent, utilities, transportation, and food for clients who are dependents of active or injured military members and are impacted by COVID-19.
Alabama Prison Birth Project

will receive $2,500 to implement a teleconferencing station at Julia Tutwiler Prison to provide professional doula support for expectant mothers to address the prison’s COVID-19 protocol prohibiting entrance by any outside personnel.

The Salvation Army Dothan, Alabama

will receive $2,500 to provide utility assistance to clients who are financially insecure due to COVID-19.

The Salvation Army Montgomery, AL Corps

will receive $2,500 to purchase food for distribution to clients in need.

Strong Tower at Washington Park

will receive $2,500 to provide direct aid for utilities and rent to clients who are financially insecure due to COVID-19.

True Word of Life Church will receive $2,500 to purchase food for distribution through its food bank to clients in need.
These 23 grants awards represent an investment of $57,361 in our community.
