CACF Turns 30!

2017 was the 30th anniversary of the Central Alabama Community Foundation. To celebrate, the foundation awarded 30 surprise $3,000 grants to support various nonprofits and programs in the River Region and Wiregrass. We received more than 11,532 nominations representing over 300 nonprofit organizations in our community! In the foundation’s 30 years of existence, we have never experienced the level of engagement and enthusiasm expressed in 2017.

After reviewing each application, we awarded 30 surprise grants totaling more than $100,000. We couldn’t stop celebrating so we awarded a 31st grant to kick-off our next 30 years!

“We could not think of a better way to celebrate our 30th anniversary than by doing what we do best: investing in the long-term success of our community,” CACF President Burton Ward said. “Since its inception, the community foundation has been focused on making the River Region a good place to work, live and raise a family. As we embark on our next 30 years, we remain committed to being strong community partners with those that are making a positive difference in our community. “
