The Southeast Alabama Community Foundation (SACF) awarded $55,350.00 in Community Trust Grants to Wiregrass area nonprofit organizations in a ceremony held May 19th at the Wiregrass Museum of Art.
This annual grant awards ceremony recognized nonprofit organizations across Southeast Alabama that support critical initiatives in education and social services. These investments reflect SACF’s ongoing commitment to strengthening communities and improving quality of life throughout the Wiregrass region.
The organizations listed below were awarded grants at the May 19th ceremony.

COMMUNITY TRUST GRANT RECIPIENTS
Education Grants ($34,350.00)
$3,000.00 to Alabama Shakespeare Festival to provide tickets for 300 students in Coffee, Dale, and Geneva counties to participate in SchoolFest, a comprehensive student matinee program.
$3,000.00 to American Red Cross to provide educational materials delivered to 300 children across Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry, and Houston counties in their Prepare with Pedro Youth Preparedness Program.
$3,000.00 to Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Alabama to support the play based, sensory learning environment for the Early Explorers Learning Lab promoting early learning, social-emotional development, and school readiness through intentional, hands-on play.
$3,000.00 to Dothan Area Botanical Gardens to provide funding for a Discovery Cart used to provide a hands-on learning opportunity to children and adults about aspects of nature and gardening.
$3,000.00 to Dothan Houston County Library System to support the Summer Reading Program which encourages students to continue to read during summer months to prevent learning loss and provides incentives as they reach milestones and at completion of the program.
$3,000.00 to Dyslexia Community Resources to provide funding for Camp D.I.G., a four-week summer program providing intensive, evidence-based instruction for students with dyslexia.
$3,000.00 to Exchange Center for Child Abuse Prevention to provide parenting classes for 100 parents with a focus on the impacts of adverse childhood experiences and trauma.
$3,000.00 to Liberty Learning Foundation to provide program kits and comic book-style curriculum to elementary and middle school students deepening their engagement and civic pride for their community.
$1,500.00 to Mary Hill Family Services Center to provide a Shaken Baby Doll used in the Building Your Bounce Parenting Education and Family Resilience classes teaching individuals the dangers of shaking infants and providing safe coping strategies during high-stress parenting moments.
$2,850.00 to National Inventors Hall of Fame to provide 10 kids the opportunity to attend Camp Invention, a camp designed and tested as an educational supplement to provide children and teachers with additional resources to augment classroom learning.
$3,000.00 to Sight Savers America to provide follow-up eye care to 40 children in Coffee County.
$3,000.00 to Southeast Alabama Community Theatre to provide funding for the Student Theatre Education Series providing year-round arts engagement that builds community bonds and cultivates young artists and art-appreciators in the Wiregrass region.
Social Services Grants ($21,000.00)
$3,000.00 to Best Buddies to provide funding for the Best Buddies Friendship Program that helps students with intellectual and developmental disabilities form meaningful connections with their peers, build self-confidence and self-esteem, and share interests, experiences, and activities that many others enjoy.
$2,000.00 to Catholic Social Services to provide funding for the Backpack Summer Program that provides nutritious meals and snacks to children in low-income housing communities over the summer months.
$3,000.00 to Dare to Hope to provide funding for education materials and mentorship services for 50+ teen girls in Project Prevent that trains them on the reality of sexual exploitation and how to recognize the grooming methods of sex traffickers.
$2,500.00 to Girls Inc. of Dothan to provide funding for the RISE Program that provides trauma-informed training and counseling to girls that have experienced trauma.
$3,000.00 to Meredith’s Miracles to support the cost of gas, food, and lodging for families with sick or injured children within our 5 counties traveling for appointments, treatment, or hospital stays.
$3,000.00 to Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging to providing funding for 75 General Caregiver Essential Support Kits designed to serve as a foundational intervention for individuals who are new to caregiving.
$1,500.00 to Time Youth of Dothan to support the cost of games for the After School Mentoring Program designed to provide enrichment activities for youth advancement.
$3,000.00 to Wiregrass Hope Group to provide funding for the Pregnancy Medical Resources & Emergent Support Program that provides services to pregnant clients with food assistance, transportation, and baby needs. (diapers, formula)
