Little Texas Volunteer Fire Department Celebrates Opening of New Community Storm Shelter

The Little Texas Volunteer Fire Department, along with community members and local officials, celebrated a major safety milestone today with the official ribbon cutting for its newly completed storm shelter located at 3974 County Road 69 in Tuskegee.

The shelter will serve as a critical safe space for residents during severe weather events and provide much-needed protection in an area often impacted by dangerous storms.

This project was made possible in part through a $25,000 contribution from the East Alabama Community Foundation’s Lee County Disaster Relief Fund (LC-DRF). The fund’s support helped the fire department secure remaining resources needed to complete the construction of the facility.

Local leaders, fire department personnel, and residents attended the ceremony, celebrating a project that has long been a community priority. The shelter now stands as an important asset in ongoing efforts to improve safety and resilience across the region.
