Hispanic Outreach Leadership and Action will receive $1,800 to work with the City of Montgomery and Health Services Inc. to connect Hispanic persons to information and services related to COVID-19. Women of Refined Gold, Inc. will receive $2,500 to provide direct assistance of food, utilities, PPE, and immediate shelter to support women experiencing domestic violence. Machis Lower Creek Indian Tribe of Alabama will receive $2,000 to provide care packs of personal hygiene, sanitizing, and PPE items to those in need with a focus on high risk persons and essential workers. Montgomery Antioch District Association Ministries will receive $2,500 to provide direct assistance for utilities, medication, food, and rent for clients who have been impacted by COVID-19. These grants awards from Track One represent an investment of $15,600 in our communities. GRANT RECIPIENTS FOR SECOND TRACK Boys and Girls Clubs of the River Region will receive $2,500 to support the purchase of HEPA air scrubbers and sanitation stations for use in its Montgomery clubs. Heritage Training and Career Center will receive $4,310 to purchase equipment to adapt its adult GED program for virtual learning. Rays of Hope Outreach Program Inc. will receive $2,000 for facility sanitization services and supplies. Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center will receive $4,313 to purchase laptop computers to provide teletherapy sessions and allow staff to work remotely. House of Fellowship will receive $2,500 to replace nonfunctioning equipment used in telecounseling and group sessions, purchase PPE supplies, and provide transportation and crisis response services for clients. Children’s Center of Montgomery, Inc. will receive $2,000 to purchase cleaning and PPE supplies. These grants awards from Track Two represent an investment of $17,623 in our communities.

To commemorate this milestone anniversary, SACF will award 10 surprise grants of $1,000 each to nonprofits in the Wiregrass Region. These grants will be awarded over the course of 2020. Due to COVID-19, SACF put a pause on the surprise grant celebration. Now, their team is excited to begin surprising local nonprofits again. The sixth nonprofit to receive a 2020 SACF surprise $1,000 grant is the Dale County Salvation Army Family Store & Service Center in Ozark, Alabama. SACF became aware of their needs after a board member communicated the importance of their Christmas program to the community in Dale County. “There is a lot to be thankful for this November, and we are thankful to have the opportunity to present this award to the Salvation Army of Dale County in honor of our 10th anniversary. These surprise grants are a way for us to show our appreciation to local organizations that are making a big difference in their communities,” said CACF President Burton Crenshaw. The Dale County Salvation Army Family Store is a family friendly store whose goals are to help those in need in the community through the sale of donated goods. The outreach of this organization covers six surrounding counties. The Salvation Army is active in virtually every corner of the world and serves in over 100 countries, offering the message of God’s healing and hope to all those in need. Nonprofit organizations that will receive the surprise grants throughout the year are registered 501(c)(3) entities and located in Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston counties. CACF or its affiliates do not fund individuals, annual fundraising drives, events or marketing campaigns, religious institutions (although we do support educational and social service programs offered by faith-based organizations), endowments, research, partisan political advocacy, regular operating support or capital projects, or sponsorship of fundraising events. Central Alabama Community Foundation (CACF) was established in 1987 by a group of local civic leaders. Their vision was to create a permanent charitable foundation to support the work of nonprofits in the Montgomery area. CACF has grown to hold over $74 million in charitable assets. Through its 230+ funds, CACF addresses a wide variety of projects and programs in education, health, human services, cultural arts, recreation, historic preservation and other civic concerns. Each year, the Foundation distributes over $4 million through hundreds of grants and scholarships. Southeast Alabama Community Foundation (SACF) is a CACF affiliate and offers citizens in the Wiregrass Region the opportunity to build long-term support for their community. Adams School will receive $2,500 to provide essential kitchen small appliances, tools, and utensils to equip four teaching kitchens in the All-in Credit Union Culinary Arts Center. Wiregrass Museum of Art will receive $2,500 to provide supplies and instructors for the First Saturday Family Day, a free come-and-go arts workshop. SOCIAL SERVICE GRANT RECIPIENTS Alabama Kidney Foundation will receive $2,500 for its 2020 Financial Assistance Program that provides dialysis patients in the five Wiregrass counties with direct aid for medication, handicap equipment, utilities, and medical-related transportation costs. Alzheimer's Resource Center will receive $2,495 for activities and materials to improve mental and physical acuity of Alzheimer patients through the Center’s Lending Library. Coffee County Family Services Center will receive $2,500 to provide transportation costs for home visits for the Building Blocks, Young Parents, and Assessment and Referral programs. Exchange Center for Child Abuse Prevention will receive $2,500 to provide curriculums and other materials for the Parenting After Violence Education classes that serves families in the domestic violence shelter. The Salvation Army Dothan, Alabama will receive $2,500 to provide food supplies for its food distribution pantry. Sight Savers America will receive $2,500 to provide funding for the cost of follow-up eye care for children in Coffee County. Smile-A-Mile will receive $2,500 to provide for clients and their families to attend its Peanut Festival Outing and Fellowship Event. Wiregrass Area Food Bank the Brown Bag Program of the Wiregrass to receive 30 pounds of groceries each month. Wiregrass Habitat for Humanity will receive $2,500 to provide for critical home repairs that allow senior citizens to remain in their homes.
